Thief of breath, despoiler of spiration,Killing bodies with their own immune responses,As if in envy of evolution’s trialProducing death out of your own unlife,
Viral indifference to those who suffer—Old or young, rich or poor, kind or vicious—Mockery emerging of spirit itself,The breath that humans almost understood:
Inspiration and aspiration the breathsThat lifted us up to transcendence,Now expiring to fatten malice and greed,Bodies just chits in power’s game of glut.
It hardly matters how many must die.Throughout history greed has fed on corpses.The more dead, the more greed gathers to hoard—The economy of narcissism
Now trumpeting its triumph throughout the worldAs tyranny openly sneers life means nothingJust excess flesh to exploit and feedTo the latest viral video ratings.
